Our Mission...

Six years ago, our excitement, as we watched our daughter Kaitlyn play soccer, turned to concern, as she struggled with her running posture and a swollen shoulder. That evening in the UMASS Memorial Hospital Emergency room, Kaitlyn was diagnosed, at the young age of 12 years old, with a malignant tumor on her shoulder and upper arm. She bravely underwent an entire year of chemotherapy treatments and several surgeries. Kaitlyn continued to fight through four relapses while attending classes at David Prouty High School and participating in extracurricular activities. She fought to maintain her daily routines with the addition of lengthy medical tests, procedures and treatments. Soon after her sixteenth birthday, Kaitlyn lost her courageous fight and passed away on May 21, 2005.

David Prouty High School was one of Kaitlyn’s favorite places to be as she battled her illness. She enjoyed playing soccer, running track and socializing with her peers, while striving to meet her goal to become a nurse. Her dream was to help others and give back what was given to her. Although Kaitlyn is not with us to fulfill her dream, we have established the Kaitlyn Langlois Memorial Foundation to fulfill her wishes to help others by raising funds to present an annual scholarship award to a college bound senior of David Prouty High School and provide financial assistance to families with children fighting cancer.
